"Churchill wanted us to pull back. He was a big cheese. A big problem. Boy they left us high and dry a couple of times. They were on our left flank and they pulled out and didn't tell us they was going to pull out. They left our whole left flank open and the Germans come around in back of us. Left everything between us and the beach wide open. And they did that in Sicily when we was up in the Mt Aetna area. They were on our right and they just pulled out.
